Alex Minetto, PhD student in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications DET, member of the NAVSaS (Navigation Signal Analysis and Simulation) research group, was awarded the "Francesco Carassa Award 2018", during the GTTI Annual Meeting (National Telecommunications and Information Technology Group).
The research conducted by Alex Minetto concerns the cooperative positioning systems based on GPS and Galileo satellite navigation systems that use the 5G networks of future generations. The research was recognized as innovative both for the definition of the position estimation paradigm, and for the use of the characteristics of the 5G networks that represent the new frontier of internet and cellular technologies.
The prestigious award, which bears the name of Prof. Francesco Carassa, one of the first Italian engineers to deal with radio links, is annually awarded to PhD students who have distinguished themselves in their research activities in the telecommunications sector.
